NEWPORT NEWS, Va.— Suspended NFL star Michael Vick is in a Virginia court to face questions about his plan to emerge from bankruptcy.
Vick appeared in a Newport News, Va. court Thursday morning for the first time in his bankruptcy case. The plan is based on his goal of resuming his professional football career when he gets out of jail.
The former Atlanta Falcons quarterback is serving a 23-month sentence for bankrolling a dogfighting ring. He left a federal prison in Kansas last week for the hearing.
His plan would allow him to keep the first $750,000 of his salary. Creditors would get part of any additional earnings.
Earlier this week Vick agreed to pay the Falcons at least $6.5 million, moving closer to cutting ties with a team that doesn't want him.
