The family of a 15-year-old girl who has been missing for one year made another public plea, and offered a reward, for her return.
Yasmine Acree went missing from her West Side home Jan. 15, 2008.
The honor student who attended Austin Polytech High School was meticulous about her morning routine and would never have left her home without making her bed, said her mother, Rose Starnes.
The day she disappeared, Yasmine’s bed wasn’t made. She also didn’t make it to school that day, and the lock on the basement door was cut. The girl’s bedroom was in the lower level of the house. Those raised huge red flags, Starnes said.
The mother believes her daughter was taken against her will.
On Thursday, a $3,000 reward was announced for information leading to Yasmine’s whereabouts.
“If anyone knows anything, I wish they would make a phone call because we miss Yasmine and want her back home,” said Starnes.
Police said they have been following up on tips about sightings of Yasmine, including a confirmed sighting of the teen last August in Illinois.
Anyone with information about Yasmine is urged to call police at 312-746-6399.
