Ill. offers more help for winter heating bills

Illinois officials say the state will have an extra $118 million this year to help low-income families with their winter heating costs.

Gov. Rod Blagojevich said in a statement Sunday that Illinois has $265 million in money from the federal government's Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.

Applications for the money are available at a network of community action agencies across the state. The program begins Nov. 1.
