The Cook County Medical Examiner's office says an autopsy has determined that some of the bones found at a site on Chicago's South Side were human, and it has ruled that unknown person's death a homicide.
Two sets of bones were found Friday near East 110th Street and South Stony Island Avenue.
An autopsy on Saturday determined that the first set of bones were not human. But a second autopsy on Sunday revealed the second set of bones are human remains, and the person died of a gunshot wound to the head.
Although the bones were found in Chicago, police in suburban Palatine say they are also investigating the find in connection with a missing person case from more than two years ago. AP
