Anumber of entertainers and recording artists are expected to greet the throngs of people expected to line the 79th annual Bud Billiken Day parade route.
Rapper Common, Academy Award-winning actor Forrest Whitaker and a host of local talents will march in the Aug. 9 parade.
The list includes: 3 Piece, Ben One, Rich Kiddz, and Marshall Thompson and the Chi Lites.
Since the first parade rolled down then-South Parkway, the Bud Billiken parade has featured some music industry legends as part of the program.
Lena Horne, Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway, Lionel Hampton, The Supremes, Ramsey Lewis, Magnum Force Gene Chandler and Jerry “The Iceman” Butler are just a few of the musical sensations to participate in the parade.
