CHICAGO (AP) — A Chicago police officer has been found guilty of reckless homicide and drunken driving in the hit-and-run death of a 13-year-old boy.
Richard Bolling, who was also found guilty Wednesday of leaving the scene of an accident, was off-duty when Trenton Booker died on May 22, 2009.
Booker's family has said Booker sneaked out with friends after going to bed. Family members have said they didn't realize he wasn't home until police told them he was dead.
Prosecutors suggested Bolling received preferential treatment from police the night his Dodge Charger struck and killed Booker on Chicago's South Side.
Cook County Circuit Judge Matthew Coghlan revoked the 43-year-old Bolling's bond and had him taken into custody shortly after the jury delivered its verdict.
Bolling faces up to seven years in prison.
