Chicago woman's death blamed on cold exposure

Associated Press

CHICAGO (AP) — Cold exposure contributed to the death of a Chicago woman found dead on a sidewalk behind her home.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office says Toya Bey died of heart disease and exposure. She was in her 50s.

Bey was found dead Saturday behind her South Side home. Her death has been ruled an accident.

Authorities say hers is the third death attributed to cold exposure in Cook County so far this winter season.

At least 14 deaths last winter were attributed at least partly to cold.
