Palmer is the last of three acts for the concert
presented by Radio Disney-
AM/1300, on the Petrillo Music Shell
stage starting at 2 p.m.
Originally from south suburban
Robbins, Palmer's performance will not
only be her very first at the Taste, but it
will also be her first time at the festival.
“I've never been to the Taste.
I've been
in Chicago for 10 years, and I never even
went,” Palmer told the Defender.
“My mom and dad said a lot of the time it's mostly for the tourist because they've eaten all the food there before like Harold's Chicken.” Palmer said she is excited about the visit and began practicing weeks ago for her Taste performance.
This summer proves to be busy for Palmer whose movie The Longshots will be released August 22, just four days before her 15th birthday. Palmer said the idea of having a movie premier party mixed with a birthday party sounds like a good idea. Also on her busy summer movie-opening schedule is the film "The Shrink," costarring Robin Williams and Kevin Spacey. She also has a new Nickelodeon television show coming out.
But Palmer manages to finds time to listen to all kinds of music, including tunes from such artists as Aaliyah and Brandy, and would love to work with just about any musician–especially Chris Brown–in the near future. Palmer and her immediate family moved to California to support the young star's blossoming career four years ago, and the move is paying off, Palmer said.
“My mom has made me aware that it's not normal to get so many jobs so quickly, and that a lot of people move out to California, and for months at a time, they won't even get a commercial,” Palmer said. “My mom made me aware that I am very blessed.”
Palmer has plans to attend college and continue to grad school and possibly become an anesthesiologist, as a second career choice. “I was thinking about going to Howard University and getting my master's at Yale,” Palmer said. Palmer plans to continue to work hard and is excited about all the good things that continue to come her way.
