John Blu, Terisa Griffin top music award nods

Rhythm and Blues artist John Blu and songstress Terisa Griffin are among the artists with multiple nominations for the upcoming 31st annual Chicago Music Awards.

Blu leads the pack with three nominations for R&B Entertainer of the Years, Best Male Vocalist and Songwriter of the Year.

Griffin, Pop starlet Demi Lobo, Slique, Ben One and Hip hop fusion group Kids These Days each racked up two nominations, as announced earlier this month.

Lifetime Achievement Awards will go to arranger-producer Thomas Washington; William Mason, general director for Lyric Opera of Chicago; Prof. W. James McPhatter, formerly of The Caravans; Michael Romano, founder of the Latin Jazz Society; The Chicago Recording Company; and the Chicago Reader newspaper.

Kanye West will receive the Producer’s Special Award and Grammy-nominated singer Miki Howard will receive the Award of Honor. West is also nominated for Pop Superstar of the Year.
