CHICAGO (AP) — The holiday shopping season often
brings a bump in the number of job openings. Seasonal jobs in the retail and
restaurant industry are usually temporary, but can provide helpful added income
for struggling families.
The Better Business Bureau is offering tips for job
hunters:
—Start the job search early. Retail, shipping,
restaurants and catering companies may be doing seasonal hiring. The time to
find these companies is now.
—Do some research on the hiring company to see if
it gets a passing grade from the Better Business Bureau.
—Work where you shop. You'll be more familiar with
the company and its products.
—Dress your best and be prepared to interview even
if you're just picking up applications at the mall.
—Be flexible. Expect to work long hours during the
holidays.
