CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Housing Authority is
hosting its annual children's coat giveaway and resource fair for residents.
The event is set for Saturday at the UIC Pavilion.
The CHA says that last year, more than 5,000 people
picked up 10,000 free coats.
The new coats will be distributed to children
living in CHA developments and housing choice voucher households.
Vendors slated to participate in this year's
resource fair include ComEd, Chicago Public Schools and the Consortium to Lower
Childhood Obesity in Chicago.
The Illinois Secretary of State's mobile licensing
unit will also be on-site.
CHA officials said Thursday registration for the
event is closed, and no coats will be available to participants who didn't
register in advance. Attendance for the resource fair is also at full capacity.
