ATLANTA (AP) — The country's first broadcast
network aimed at African-American audiences is set to debut at noon, when
audiences will see the 1970s black cult favorite, "The Wiz."
Atlanta-based Bounce TV is an over-the air
channel supported by sponsors, targeting African Americans between ages 25 to
54. It is designed to be carried on the digital signals of local television
stations.
Bounce will feature a programming mix of motion
pictures, sports documentaries and faith-based programs, and will air 24 hours
a day, seven days a week. As the network grows, it also plans to produce
original programming
Bounce TV will be seen in several markets
nationwide, including Chicago, Philadelphia, Houston, San Francisco, Milwaukee,
Indianapolis and Atlanta.
Martin Luther King III and Ambassador Andrew Young
are among the network's founders.
