CHICAGO (AP) — Contract talks between the Chicago
Bears and running back Matt Forte are on hold.
Forte was looking for an extension as he headed
into the fourth and final season on his rookie contract, but general manager
Jerry Angelo says talks are off until after the season.
He told WBBM-AM in Chicago late Monday that
"we're just going to focus on the season" because they couldn't reach
an agreement. Forte had considered holding out at the start of training camp
but decided against that.
Angelo said the Bears were "hopeful"
they'd agree on a new deal and he is "not saying the door is shut."
He also said both sides agreed to break off the talks.
