CHICAGO (AP) — Two Illinois projects are receiving grants to identify and enroll children eligible for Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program.
The grants were announced Thursday by the U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services.
Sinai Health System in Chicago is receiving just
over $340,000. Sinai will work with the Mexican Consulate in Chicago and the Mid-West
Asian Health Association to target Hispanic and Asian communities. The project
will use a web-based system to track the success of the outreach efforts.
Beacon Therapeutic Schools will focus on enrolling
uninsured and homeless youth in Cook County. The goal is to expand the work as
a statewide initiative. Beacon will receive $409,000.
The two-year grants are authorized under the
Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2009.
