Two Real Times Media Inc. newspapers took home three of the five top MillerCoors A. Philip Randolph Messenger Awards during the National Newspapers Publishers Association annual convention.
The Chicago
Defender (Kathy
Chaney-Breaking News and Wendell Hutson-Sustainability) and the New
Pittsburgh Courier
(Christian Morrow-Economic Empowerment) were among five first place winners of
the 21st annual Messenger Awards presented last week in Chicago.
Chaney was also a finalist in the Features category.
The
awards, named in honor of the late A. Philip Randolph who inspired social
consciousness, honored journalists of Black Press and the important role they
play in serving as the “messengers of the African-American community.”
Rounding
out the winners circle are Our Weekly (David L. Horne-Commentary) and the Atlanta Inquirer (David Stokes-Feature).
Real Times also owns the Michigan Chronicle, Michigan Front Page and Memphis Tri-State Defender.
