CHICAGO (AP) — All proceedings have been canceled at a suburban Chicago courthouse after storm damage left the building without electricity.
Cases scheduled for Wednesday at the Maywood
courthouse have been continued.
Court officials say the building will reopen as
soon as electrical service can be restored.
Nearly 400 ComEd repair crews are working to fix
the storm damage that left 300,000 customers in the dark.
ComEd spokesman Bennie Currie says about 258,000
customers remained without power Wednesday morning. About 182,000 of those
outages were reported in ComEd's northern region. Only about 6,600 of the
customers still without power are in Chicago.
Currie says the extent of the damage means it might
be days before power is restored to all customers.
ComEd has 3.8 million customers in northern
Illinois.
