Award-winning singer-actress Jennifer Hudson stretched her arms and legs Tuesday with dozens of students at a Southwest Side school to help promote physical fitness.
Promoting
the third annual Weight Watchers Walk-It Challenge, Hudson –– a national
ambassador of Weight Watchers –– encouraged the students at Namaste Charter
School to maintain a healthy lifestyle and exercise.
Allison
Slade, the school’s principal and co-founder, said Namaste implements various
programs each day to ensure the students are learning how to live healthier
lives in order to tackle the problem of childhood obesity. The students learn
healthy eating habits along with the importance of physical activity. In
addition to recess every day, there is also a 60-minute physical education
class.
Namaste
–– with a student body of 400 in kindergarten through 7th grade ––
was founded in 2004.
“It takes
everybody to help us build that healthier generation,” said Slade.
Sharing
what they have learned, the students showed Hudson exercise routines they
practice everyday.
“Keep up
the good work,” Hudson told the students after the exercise routine.
