Chicago mayor hosts public farewell gathering

Associated Press

CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago's longest serving mayor in history is preparing his goodbye.

Mayor Richard Daley will host an open house and farewell reception for the public at City Hall Monday afternoon. He'll shake hands and visit with residents.

Daley announced last year that he wouldn't seek a seventh term. He first took office in 1989.

Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel takes office May 16.
