CHICAGO (AP) — Community groups on the city's South Side are hosting a cleanup event and health fair in response to anti-abortion billboards with an image of President Barack Obama.
The Chicago Abortion Fund is hosting the "Clean Up the Lot and Community Resource Fair" on Saturday on the city's South Side. The event comes weeks after the group Life Always unveiled several billboards around the Englewood neighborhood. The billboards show a picture of Obama with the line, "every 21 minutes a future leader is aborted." The Chicago Abortion Fund says the signs are disrespectful.
More than 20 community organizations are scheduled to help clean a neglected lot near some of the billboards. The fair scheduled afterward will provide health care information including low-cost forms of birth control.
