Emanuel picks Claypool to head CTA

Associated Press

CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel has named former Cook County Commissioner Forrest Claypool as president of the Chicago Transit Authority.

Emanuel on Tuesday also announced that he's keeping Terry Peterson on as chairman of the CTA Board.

Claypool has a reputation for being a reformer. He recently ran an independent bid for Cook County assessor, although he ultimately lost the race to the Democratic candidate.

Emanuel also named Gabe Klein as the new Chicago Department of Transportation commissioner. He worked as director of the District Department of Transportation in Washington.
