CHICAGO (AP) — President Barack Obama is making his case for re-election, saying he was able to yank the economy out of its hole and is the best person to finish the job.
In an interview with The Associated Press, the
president summed up his campaign message, arguing he has put the economy on
track while at the same time pushing through a health care overhaul and new
financial regulations to ensure more prosperity in the future.
Obama made his comments Friday as he wrapped up a
visit to his hometown of Chicago, where he launched his 2012 re-election
fundraising effort. The three events the president attended Thursday night were
expected to raise about $2 million for his campaign and the Democratic National
Committee.
