CHICAGO (AP) — The Illinois auditor general says his office's latest look at Chicago State University found more than 40 problems.
Auditor General William Holland tells the Chicago
Tribune that the university didn't send bills to its students for several
months last spring. He calls it an "elemental responsibility" and a
"problem" that it didn't get done.
University president Wayne Watson says his team has
been addressing fiscal concerns. He says they "haven't caught
everything," but are "working on it around the clock."
The audit also found misspent federal grants and
misuse of purchasing cards. It found more than 40 problems. Last year it found
13 problems.
The university had an official response in the
audit. It didn't dispute findings.
