CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago's Adler Planetarium is awaiting word on whether the institution will house one of four retired space shuttle orbiters.
NASA will announce today where the retiring space
shuttles will go on display once the program ends this summer. Adler is one of
21 museums and centers around the country that put in bids for the spaceships.
NASA is disclosing the winners Tuesday on the 30th anniversary of the first
space shuttle launch in 1981.
Adler is commemorating the event with an all-day
Celebration of Spaceflight. At 12 p.m. Adler visitors can watch NASA's
announcement live in the planetarium's Universe Theater.
