Mandela foundation to release book of quotes

Associated Press

JOHANNESBURG (AP) — The Nelson Mandela Foundation will release a book of historic quotations before the icon's 93rd birthday in July.

"Nelson Mandela By Himself: The Authorized Book of Quotations" will include more 2,000 quotations. The foundation said Thursday that some of the material comes from Mandela's private papers, correspondences and personal archive.

The 92-year-old Nobel peace laureate icon spent 27 years in prison for fighting apartheid in South Africa. He became South Africa's first black president in 1994.

Mandela's autobiography, "Long Walk to Freedom," has sold millions around the world. He also has inspired everything from cookbooks about the food influencing his life to children's literature.
