Alds. Carrie Austin (34th) and Virginia Rugai (19th) honored Pop music songstress Demi Lobo for her education excellence and community service. Lobo, a former resident of Rugai’s Southwest Side ward and current resident of Austin’s Far South Side ward, is a student at Columbia College and is currently the youngest on-air personality at WGCI/107.5 FM.
“She’s given back to the community…food, clothes, furniture. This is a young lady we can truly be proud of,” said Austin before a standing rousing applause by fellow aldermen at Wednesday’s monthly City Council meeting.
