Memorial service to be held for Margaret Burroughs

A public memorial service will be held Saturday for Margaret Burroughs at 11 a.m. at Rockefeller Memorial Chapel, 5850 S. Woodlawn Ave.


Burroughs, co-founder of the DuSable Museum of African-American History, died in November.


She also started the South Side Community Art Center and the Lake Meadows Art Fair.


Burroughs, most recently the Chicago Park District Commissioner, taught art for 27 years at DuSable High School and for 10 years at Kennedy-King College.
