Anti-obesity grants awarded to 6 Chicago programs

CHICAGO (AP) — Six Chicago community groups and schools have received grants for programs fighting childhood obesity.

The UnitedHealth Group's HEROES grants total $4,500.

Wilbur Wright College's grant will fund a student-led service-learning project teaching kids about mechanisms behind obesity.

A grant for Englewood's Lindblom Math & Science Academy will help students there create a healthy food campaign for the impoverished neighborhood.

Erie Neighborhood House received money to fund a health fair for kids and their families.

The other grant recipients are Girls in the Game, Jefferson Awards Youth Service Challenge and Fraternite Notre Dame's grant .
